About Key Test

What Key Test Does

Key Test makes it easy to check a keyboard directly in your browser. Open the keyboard tester, press each key, and watch the on-screen keyboard respond. You can spot a dead key, a key that fires twice, a stuck key, or a combination your keyboard cannot register correctly. There is nothing to install and no account to create.

Why We Built It

A keyboard problem is often small but disruptive. One unreliable key can spoil a game, interrupt a shortcut, or turn a short message into a frustrating task. We built key-test.com to give anyone a quick first check before replacing a keyboard or taking a computer in for repair.

Tools and Guides

Privacy and Accuracy

Keyboard events are handled locally in your browser. We do not record the words you type into the tester. The tool shows what the browser receives, which makes it useful for finding symptoms, but it cannot identify the physical cause of every fault. If a key still looks unreliable, test another USB port or device before deciding that the keyboard is broken.

Who It Is For

Key Test is for laptop owners, gamers, writers, repair technicians, second-hand buyers, and anyone checking a new keyboard. The interface is designed to be quick enough for a single suspicious key and thorough enough for a full keyboard check.

Keep Testing

We continue to improve the tools, translations, and guides as browsers and keyboards change. If something is unclear or a layout behaves unexpectedly, leave a comment on the site. Careful reports help us make Key Test more useful for everyone.
